What is Mamamaratona 7?

MAMAMARATONA it’s one of the most important events in the Algarve (see www.aoa.pt – EVENTOS). The charitable organization belongs to Associação Oncológica do Algarve, an institution to help oncology patients and fight against cancer. It deals with an annual beneficial Run/Walk of 8/5 Km in Portimão, with the objective of gathering funds to support the AOA projects.

So far, the Mamamaratonas have raised enough money to have purchased a Mobile Mammography Unit in June 2005, which is being used in all the Councils of Algarve for the Breast Screening Program in the region.

The next Run for Life (“Corrida Contra o Cancro”) will be in Portimão – Expoarade – on the 14 th October, Sunday, at 10 am.
