1. Organisation – The event, organised by Associação Oncológica do Algarve (AOA) in collaboration with the Portimão City Council, AAA and IDP will host a 5-8 km marathon/March October 16th at 10:00am, open to all ages. 2. Marathon course – The course is a gentle, flat surface about 5-8 km. The Start and Finish line is at the Portimão's Antiga Lota da Zona Ribeirinha with the course following along the Arade river coastline. 3. Equipment:
T-shirts and race numbers will be distributed to all participants upon payment of the registration.
It is important that you bring comfortable footwear and clothing.
4. Water stations – Clearly marked water stations will be available along the course. There will be two water stations: the first located at approximately 5 km from the Start line and the second located at the Finish line. 5. Physical condition – Before taking part, obtain information about the course and distance of the marathon and check that you are in good physical condition so that your participation does not put your health at risk. Participants should seek the necessary medical advice in order to participate. The organisation is not responsible for any medical complications that may arise before, during or after the marathon. 6. Safety – The safety of participants is insured by the Portimão Municipal firemen, the Portuguese Red Cross and civil liability which covers any incident related to the marathon. 7. Recommendations – The participants must agree to respect the recommendations made by the Organisation placed along the perimeter of the course. 8. Awards – Participation awards will be given to all registered participants, based on previously established standards, which will be posted on the website and by the media, in due course. 9. Participants – Participation is open to everyone except:
Cyclists and skaters.
Unsupervised children.
NB. Dogs are allowed as long as they are kept on a leash and are accompanied by their respective owners.
